My First Week of Meditation Experience

I decided to start meditating. After reading numerous tutorials and experiences shared online, I felt confident that I knew what to do. So, after work, I finally began my meditation journey.

At first, I tried to sit in a yoga posture, but my body was too stiff to maintain the pose. 😂 Since that didn’t work, I decided to lean back in a chair instead. 😏 I wanted to keep things simple for my first meditation session.

I leaned back, gently closed my eyes, and rested my hands naturally on my legs. My entire body relaxed as I practiced abdominal breathing.

I slowly inhaled, feeling my belly expand as the air traveled from my chest down to my lower abdomen. Then, I exhaled, allowing my belly to contract while imagining all the stagnant energy being released from my body.

Inhale~ Exhale~

I continued breathing naturally without forcing deep breaths, focusing only on the rhythm of my breathing. My goal was to clear my mind of distractions and concentrate solely on each breath.

At first, everything went smoothly, and I quickly settled into the meditative state. However, after about a minute, my mind began to wander, and random thoughts crept in without me realizing it. By the time I noticed, my focus had already drifted away from my breath.

I quickly redirected my attention back to my breathing. Inhale~ Exhale~ But the distractions returned, becoming more frequent and overwhelming. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop them.

I found myself locked in a constant struggle against these intrusive thoughts, forcing myself to concentrate on my breath. Then, at some point… I must have fallen asleep! 😂

When I finally regained awareness, my body felt completely relaxed, though I did experience a slight dizziness.

That was my first attempt at meditation. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. I’m looking forward to improving as I continue my practice!
